The Angie Smith Edit: The Pieces a Stylist Would Wear on Repeat

What does a stylist actually choose when she is dressing herself?

We invited stylist and fashion authority Angie Smith into Peggy and asked her to do what she does best: edit.

The brief was simple. Choose the pieces she would genuinely want in her own wardrobe, then style them the way she would actually wear them.

After more than two decades working in fashion, Angie has developed the kind of eye that sees beyond the individual piece. She knows what works with denim, what can take you from everyday to dinner, what makes a great wardrobe staple and, importantly, what is actually worth making room for.

The result is Curated by Angie Smith. A considered selection of pieces designed to be worn, restyled and reached for on repeat.

The stylist’s test: will you actually wear it?

There is a common thread running through Angie’s selection. Nothing needs to be saved for the right occasion.

The Anine Bing Essie Shirt in Blue Stripe is the kind of shirting that can be worn loose and relaxed, tucked into trousers or layered over a tee. The Anine Bing Hugh Jeans in Panama Blue bring an easy denim element to more feminine or polished pieces.

Then there are the everyday foundations, like the St. Agni Organic Cotton Baby Tee in White, that quietly make the rest of a wardrobe work harder.

It is the kind of styling that makes you look at a piece and immediately see more possibilities.

Make the special pieces less precious

One of our favourite things about Angie’s approach is the way she takes something inherently beautiful and removes the formality from it.

The RIXO Evanora Top in Floral Trail Jacquard Champagne can be worn with relaxed denim rather than waiting for an event.

The Maison Essentiele Lace Trimmed Cami in White becomes an everyday layering piece when styled with more relaxed, contrasting textures.

It is not about having separate wardrobes for different versions of your life. It is about choosing pieces that can move between them.

It is all in the contrast

Angie’s styling is a lesson in balance. Soft against structured. Feminine against relaxed. A polished trouser with something easy. Tailoring with fluid fabrications. A special top grounded by denim.

The Maggie Marilyn These Are The Good Old Days Blazer in Black Coffee paired with the Harris Tapper Irving Trouser in Ivory Jacquard Satin is a perfect example. Strong tailoring against fluid movement. Considered, but never too done.

And then there are the pieces that quietly hold everything together. Great shirting. A baby tee. Denim. Cashmere. The things you can put on without overthinking and still feel pulled together.

Pieces that earn their place

At the heart of Angie’s edit is a simple idea: choose pieces you will actually wear.

Pieces that work on a normal Tuesday. Pieces you can dress up when plans change. Pieces that can be styled differently depending on where the day takes you. Pieces that make everything else in your wardrobe feel a little better.

That philosophy feels very at home at Peggy. We have always believed in buying less, buying better and finding more ways to wear what you own.

Curated by Angie Smith is a stylist’s take on exactly that.

Selected from Peggy. Styled by Angie. Made to be worn on repeat.
